Difficulties finding a corset
- The high price. The best corsets are custom made and personally fitted. The more closely clothing or lingerie clings to the body, the more carefully it must be fitted to look and feel right. In modern times, when labour costs much more than materials, custom clothing can be extremely expensive.
- Long delivery time. The best corsetieres are often very busy.
- The skill. The making of corsets is an art which demands practice. Finding a competent, experienced corsetiere can be difficult.
- Low-quality corsets. Finding a well-fitting, good-quality corset among the many imitations can be challenging. The potential wearer must try on and inspect any corset being considered for purchase for quality and fit. An ill-fitting corset will chafe, impede digestion, and ultimately cause damage to the ribs[5] and pinch nerves.[6]
